RAWALPINDI: Both India and the US consider the now released from house arrest, Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, as the mastermind of the Mumbai attacks. Recently, during his address at The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, former US president Barack Obama recalled that at the time of the 2007 Mumbai attacks, Washington was just as obsessed with how to dismantle LeT as the Indians. And that those responsible for the attacks must be brought to justice.
However, the Pakistani government on the basis of unavailability of substantial evidence has shown reluctance to take action against the LeT leader.
The former US president during his visit to India was all praise for the country which is brutally engaged in terrorist acts in the Indian-occupied Kashmir. It would have been in the fitness of things if the former US president had urged the Pakistani government to eliminate the safe havens of terrorists from the country, and at the same time had also demanded a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue, as the Indian government has created a reign of terror in the India-held Kashmir.
