KARACHI:

The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) will soon initiate the process of giving membership to district- and tehsil-level newspapers which have been running successfully, says a press release issued here.

This was stated by CPNE President Khushnood Ali Khan at an informal meeting of the Council held at the residence of Syed Intizar Hussain Zanjani in Lahore on Tuesday. He said that necessary amendments would soon be made to the CPNE constitution to include more and more professional editors.

The participants proposed that the CPNE should organise training courses in order to promote professional journalistic skills. For this purpose, they proposed that the researches and experiments of different national and international universities could also be put to use. The meeting also discussed the establishment of a CPNE think tank to come up with solutions for the problems faced by the country.
