A Chinese varsity has expressed its desire to enhance ties with a local varsity in student exchange and research fields.

A seven-member delegation from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GUFS) in China, led by the university board’s chairman and its president Sui Guangjun, visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad, a statement released on Sunday said.

During the visit, the delegates met with the NUML Rector Major-General (retired) Ziauddin Najam and visited various departments of the varsity.

During one-on-one meetings with the rector, Guangjun noted the role NUML was playing in promoting the Chinese language and culture in Pakistan. GUFS, Guangjun, said, was keen to enhance the student exchange programme and start joint research initiatives with NUML to further expand relations between the two countries.

Guangjun briefed NUML officials about GUFS and discussed the possible cooperation in different fields. The NUML rector said that Pakistan and China have deep cordial relations. NUML, he said, has signed a number of agreements with different Chinese educational institutions and that they were keen on having an agreement with GUFS to promote educational relations between the two countries.
