Amir Khan sparks controversy regarding alleged sexist remarks
The boxer has now said that he wasn't the one making the sexist comments
Pakistani-British boxer Amir Khan has definitely had a very happening year. And it hasn't even ended yet!
Amid all the family drama, cheating rumors, Faryal's pregnancy and the troubled couple's breakthrough reconciliation, Amir never fails to surprise us.
I'm glad Amir is on TV so people can see the real him: Faryal Makhdoom
Most recently, Khan was quoted in an interview shared by BBC Asian Network as making some pretty appalling remarks regarding household chores.
The 30-year-old sports superstar is currently on a reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. Khan allegedly said that once he comes home from work, it's his wife's job to cook for him.
"I would never cook," Khan was reported as saying as he chatted with another man who was said to be cooking for his wife if she'd be at work. "In my culture, women, it's their job to do the cooking. They're best at cooking. It's a man's job to actually do other jobs like the hard work, the hard labour jobs around the house."
I've embarrassed myself: Amir Khan on split with Faryal Makhdoom
"Doing housework is harder," the other man, who is believed not be Khan, argued. "I would not get as tired on my job as I do when I work at home. Until you don't do it for yourself, you won't realise how hard that is."
To this, Khan apparently replied, "I've got a dishwasher, washing machine, I've never actually known how to use these things. I would never touch those machinery, ever. You would turn into a woman. I'm a man. If I started dishwashing..."
But now, The Express Tribune has learnt that Amir has denied having made these statements. It's quite shocking to witness anyone in this day and age doing so - let alone a famous celebrity who is a role model to countless people.
This story earlier erroneously attributed the 'cultural remark' to Khan. The error is deeply regretted.

A woman interrupted him here and asked, "If you use the machine, you would turn into a woman?" Khan then said, "Yeah."
Of course, the post by BBC Asian Network sparked quite the Twitter frenzy.
