ECC meeting: Import of used buses and tractors allowed

Buses manufactured at least five years earlier to be allowed.

ISLAMABAD:


The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Tuesday allowed import of buses manufactured at least five years earlier.


The decision was taken in an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. Participants also accorded approval for import of used buses manufactured at least three years earlier.

The ECC during its meeting also increased cotton cess rate by 150 per cent. The rate has been increased from Rs20 per bale to Rs50 per bale. The cess has been levied to collect money for research.

The ECC also constituted a committee to review the performance of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and National Rural Support Programme.
