ISLAMABAD: Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (DRAP) in collaboration with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a raid on the unauthorised pharmaceutical companies in Hayatabad, Peshawar and clamped down on the manufacturing of alternative and substandard medicines.

The firms were found to be operating illegally without due registration on Form-6 violating the DRAP Act, 2012 and Alternative Medicines and Health Products (Enlistment) Rules, 2014.

Drug Inspectors uncovered a large quantity of alternative medicines stored in putrid conditions during the raid.

Illegal pharmaceutical compounds were sealed and samples of medicines were sent to the laboratory for examination.

In order to keep a check on such practices and uncover the culprits, authorities are still conducting a further inspection.
