ATI carnage: External enemy behind attack: Muqam
Says federal govt will bear cost of treatment for the injured
PESHAWAR:
External enemy was behind the deadly attack on Agriculture Training Institute on Friday, said Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) provincial president and the prime minister’s advisor Amir Muqam on Saturday.
“Our external enemy cannot digest development and the Friday carnage is result of the enemy’s animosity,” said Muqam while talking with newsmen after visiting Khyber Teaching Hospital to meet with injured of the attack.
“We will have to get together by ending our internal differences to fight with our external enemy and for defeating terrorists,” read a statement issued by the press information department.
Muqam appreciated gallantry and prompt response of security forces as a result of which huge loss was averted.
He said the federal government has announced a compensation of Rs1 million for legal heir of those who lost their lives, Rs0.5million for the seriously injured and Rs0.2million for victims who had suffered minor injured during the attack adding the federal government will bear expenses of shifting seriously injured to other hospitals for treatment.
He said it was very sad that militants attacked on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi adding those behind the heinous attacks do not deserve to be called as humans.
At least nine people were killed when terrorists clad in burqas stormed the Agriculture Training Institute in Peshawar early Friday morning in an attack reminiscent of a deadly assault on a university in Charsadda in 2016.
Over 32 people – among them a police sub inspector and two army soldiers – were also wounded in the assault claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the outlawed umbrella of terrorist groups.
Medics at the Hayatabad Medical Complex and the Khyber Teaching Hospital, where most of the casualties were rushed, said they had received a total of nine bodies and were treating some 38 injured, including some in critical condition.
