Mother slits throats of three minor children, attempts suicide in Punjab

Reason for murdering her children yet to be ascertained

A mother tried to commit suicide on Saturday after she killed her three minor children in Pindi Bhattian, Punjab, and threw their bodies in the Jhang canal, Express News reported.

The woman slit the throats of her six-year-old daughter, four-year-old son and two-year-old son and threw them in Jhang canal near her village. After killing her children, the mother tried to commit suicide by slitting her own throat as well, however, people made it to her in time and saved her.

The bodies of the three children were recovered after police and rescue officials called for a search operation and found a trail of blood at the site of the incident leading to the children.



A police case was registered by the children’s father and law enforcers have arrested the woman. The reason for her murdering the minor children and attempting to commit suicide attempt are yet to be ascertained.

In March 2014, police arrested a couple in Johar Town, Lahore, for killing their two children, an eight-month-old baby boy and a two-year-old girl, after a quarrel over monetary constraints

The young mother stated they had been trying to make ends meet by selling the gold which her parents had given her at her marriage. She said they also started a motorcycle rental shop but her husband had sold all motorcycles instead of running the business.
