During the visit to the Model Community Centre at the Secretariat Police Station, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal admonished officers for delays in construction of the centre and directed that all police stations should set up their respective community centres on priority.
Moreover, the interior minister said that police should be public-friendly since, without the help of citizens, crime cannot be controlled.
He added that some people want to spread religious hatred to damage the unity of the nation. The minister, who went on to visit the Ramna and Kohsar police stations, said that the police should make public service their obligation and urged that citizens who visit police stations for resolving their issues should be facilitated.
Iqbal also reviewed the reporting rooms at these stations and checked their daily journals.
On-duty reporting room staff briefed the minister.
Iqbal, after having a chat with citizens at the stations, issued orders for immediately resolving their complaints.
He also reviewed the under-construction building of the Ramna Police Station and expressed concern over the slow construction work. He directed authorities to complete work as soon as possible.
