The meeting was presided over by TEVTA Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh whereas other board members including Syed Yawar Ali, Ali Pervaiz, Asim Qadri, Rahmat Ullah Javaid, Nilofar Sikandar, Rehan Naseem, Nasir Iqbal and other officials were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the meeting, the chairman briefed the members about the establishment of the sports complex and said that it will be built on the available 114 kanals at the college. He added that the sports complex will include different facilities including cricket, hockey, squash and others.
Talking about the construction plan of the complex, Sheikh said that initially the complex will be constructed and operated in collaboration with Lahore Development Authority and Punjab Sports Department. These two departments had wide experience of constructing and operating sports complexes, therefore this would be beneficial for us, he added.
Sheikh said that the board members would decide if the land will be given on lease to these departments or an agreement would be signed between the departments to build the complex so that the students of TEVTA’s institutions have free access to all facilities. He said that globally, sports and physical fitness were priorities at educational institutions.
“TEVTA was providing international standard education and now international standard sports facilities will also be available for the students,” he added.
