KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned the incharge of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SITU), Sukkur branch, along with the records relating to land of the under-construction hospital.

Headed by SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh, a two-judge bench sought such a record by December 21 while hearing a bail petition filed by Deedar Ali Jatoi against alleged harassment by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a land scam.

The petitioner, who was last week granted bail against a surety of Rs3 million, alleged that the NAB officials were harassing him in connection with alleged illegal occupation on the land of a hospital being built by the SIUT in Sukkur.

The petitioner had maintained that he had donated his six-acre land to Professor Adeebul Hasan Rizvi to set up a hospital for kidney treatment and transplant in Sukkur, but the NAB summoned him in connection with an inquiry into alleged illegal occupation on the land.
Jatoi had pleaded to the court to grant him bail as he apprehended arrest by the NAB.

During Tuesday's proceedings, the judges directed the SIUT's incharge in Sukkur to appear along with the entire record relating to the land, where a hospital was being constructed, but had allegedly been occupied unlawfully.
