HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Saturday that the government has selected 4,500 public sector schools to introduce infrastructural reforms.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for over Rs1 billion road projects in Sujawal district, he said that the reforms will be completed within six months. Shah laid the foundation stone for a Rs240 million, eight kilometre (km) long bypass and a Rs840 million, 37km road.

Why expanding roads will not ease traffic in Karachi

Responding to a question posed by the media, he mentioned that 600,000 tons of sugar is present in warehouses across Sindh. "As soon as the federal government allows export of the stock, the sugar mills will start the buying process,” he said.

Farmers have been complaining against the delay in starting the sugarcane purchase by the sugar mills. The Sindh Abadgar Board, Sindh Chamber of Agriculture and Sindh Abadgar Ittehad have announced a sit-in protest on the highway on December 4 to urge the provincial government to start the bills and fix at least Rs200 per 40 kilogrammes of cane.
