Hours after PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari once again refused to meet disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the PML-N chief doesn’t need Zardari’s political support.

“Nawaz Sharif didn’t say about meeting anyone. If he needs to meet anyone that is only for avoiding derailment of democracy and holding the next general election on time,” Sanaullah said while talking to the media in Lahore on Thursday.

“He [Sharif] doesn’t need Zardari’s political crutches,” he added.

Zardari refuses to join hands with Nawaz Sharif

According to Express News, Zardari, former president, has ruled out joining hands with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s chief for the fourth time. “Nawaz Sharif only wants to use charter of democracy for his personal gains,” Zardari was quoted as saying.

Zardari’s comments came a day after Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had approached the top leadership of PPP in a bid to win its vital support to pass a bill allowing fresh delimitation of constituencies.

Referring to the PPP leader’s refusal to meet PML-N chief, Sanaullah also said: “Zardari’s unwillingness to create consensus on major national issues with Nawaz Sharif apparently hints at his personal grudge or he wants to please some ‘non-political elements’", adding, "The PPP co-chairman is damaging no one but the democracy in the country.”
