0.4 million youth to get training in demand-driven trades

Scheme is only for poor and vulnerable population of Punjab

MULTAN: At least 0.4 million individuals from across the province will be imparted training in various demand-driven trades by the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) under industrial training programme.

The selected candidates can get free Industrial training with employment opportunities, free books and uniform and will also get scholarship, a specific cash amount from the PSDF. After completion of training, the youth could get better Jobs in national and international companies.



PSDF Assistant Manager (Technical) Zuhaib Haq   said this while addressing an awareness seminar at Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday. The session was chaired by Khawaja Muhammad Hussain.

Zuhaib Haq said that more than 0.2 million individuals had been trained in 200 different demand-based trades since the inception of the programme with the collaboration of UKaid.

He said that industrialists and manufacturers should come forward to join hands with PSDF to prepare skilled force for their industry and provide jobs to atleast 505 people.

The PSDF has launched a new scheme under the name of ‘Industrial Training Programme 2017’ in which individuals from across the province will be trained in various employable demand-driven trades. The scheme is a sequel of the earlier scheme ‘Skills for Employability’ which was launched in 2011.

In the preceding round, more than 15,000 completed their trainings in numerous vocational trades. PSDF is a section 42 company, established by the Government of Punjab in partnership with the Department for International Development (DFID), UK.



The PSDF funds vocational training organisations to provide training to the poor and vulnerable population of Punjab. Until now, PSDF has funded trainings of 110,935 men and women from its target districts of Punjab under its various schemes for skills development.
