Assembly’s act a snub to court verdict: Mustafa Kamal

PSP chief says Nawaz must accept decision of the apex court

QUETTA: Pak Sar zameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal has termed ‘rejection’ of constitutional amendment in the National Assembly as a black day in the democratic history. The amendment was moved by the opposition parties to put a ban on making a disqualified person party chief.

Speaking at a Press Conference in Quetta, Kamal criticized the National Assembly’s act as humiliation to the verdict passed by the highest court of the country.
Anis Qaimkhani, Raza Haroon, Ashfaq Mangi, Attaullah Kurd and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
Kamal wondered how a person who was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan could remain president of a political party. “Nawaz Sharif must accept the decision of the apex court as he has no other option,” Kamal said.

He felt that currently democracy in the country is safe from external threats. However, ‘the real threat is from the ruling elite’.

While speaking on the situation of Balochistan, he said, “the government has failed to implement the National Action Plan in the province, which was passed with joint efforts of all the political parties.”
“The government should launch development programme to provide drinking water, health and education facilities for the people.”

Negligence of institutions in the province has deprived people of clean drinking water and basic health facilities.

Replying to a question, the PSP chief said that the government should focus on education in the province to draw full benefits from CPEC.

On Karachi’s situation he said that those who have taken votes in the name of Muhajir have given nothing to the city.

He said he would not allow discrimination against the Baloch people, adding that during his three-day visit, PSP has gained more support as he and other party leaders had meetings with a lot of people who joined PSP.

Kamal announced opening of PSP offices in eight districts of Balochistan.

“If people vote for his party in the upcoming elections, he will resolve all the problems faced by the people in Balochistan,” he said.
