SHC directs Ayaz Swati to surrender before anti-terrorism court
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court granted on Tuesday interim bail to a suspect, Ayaz Swati, absconding in a case related to the murder of the Orangi Pilot Project director, Perween Rahman.
A two-judge bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, granted him bail against a surety of Rs500,000 for one week. The bench further told the suspect to surrender before the relevant anti-terrorism court in seven days.
Swati approached the high court seeking pre-arrest bail since the police investigators had declared him an absconder before an anti-terrorism court during the trial of the high-profile murder trial.
In the bail application, the court was informed that Swati, the prime suspect in the murder, wanted to surrender before the trail court but apprehended his arrest. The court was pleaded to grant him pre-arrest bail so that he could join the trial proceedings.
