World Children’s Day

Letter November 22, 2017
On November 20th, the World Children’s Day was observed as a pledge for provision of basic child rights

LAHORE: On November 20th, the World Children’s Day was observed as a pledge for provision of basic child rights and to protect the childhood of every child. Though much like other globally observed days, the Children’s Day doesn’t quite serve the purpose. With more children now being exposed to violent and crisis situation, hundreds dying every day as they struggle for survival in war-torn, famine-stricken regions, Children’s Day is another formality that stands far from the brutal reality. With more cases of child molestation, drug and sexual abuse and mistreatment being reported, one can only question the conscience that the humanity seems to have lost.

Worst is the mindset that chooses to ignore such childhood experiences as a dark chapter that should be closed forever and forgotten without realising the fact that these realities haunt the victims forever, if not treated timely.
