PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Azam Khan on Monday directed home department to ask Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) for making functional the skill development centres at Haripur and Bannu jails at the earliest.

Khan was chairing a meeting held to discuss the affairs and issues of K-P Prisons Department and the conditions of jails in the province. The chair directed the home secretary to ask TEVTA for making functional the skilled development centres at central prison Haripur and Bannu at the earliest.

The secretary finance was also directed to allocate the desired funds for the repair of security equipment of various prisons.

The meeting appreciated the efforts for screening tests and treatment of Hepatitis B and C and HIV for prisoners with the help of health department. It also lauded holding indoor games in prisons.
