Punjab government provide jobs to 66 special people
All recruitments made in Class-IV category.
MULTAN:
At least 66 people with disabilities were provided jobs by Punjab government against the recommended three percent quota in Multan District.
Those who were given jobs in different departments included 17 visually impaired persons, 17 deaf and dumb and 32 physically disabled.
Toilet facilities for special people non-existent
Social Welfare Department District Officer Muhammad Ahmed Chashti said the recruitments were carried out in different departments, including TMA Sher Shah Town, TMA Musa Pak, TMA Shah Rukn-e-Alam, TMA Bosan Town, civil defence, agriculture extension, livestock and dairy development department, health department and TMA Shujabad.
He added the recruitments were made in Class-IV category.
Focal Person on Visually Impaired Persons Tahir Shehzad said that Punjab government also promised to recruit a good number of special persons in scales 5 to 15 in the future.
He maintained that visually impaired persons were made telephone operators while deaf and dumb persons were given jobs as naib qasid.
Customised wheelchair unit for special people set up
Tahir Shehzad said the response of the private sector in provision of jobs to special people was not satisfactory. He said only four special persons were given jobs in different private departments.
He appealed Punjab government and labour department to play their effective role in provision of jobs to special people in the private sector.
