CJP takes suo motu notice of Turbat killings

Bodies of 20 people hailing from different districts of Punjab were found in different areas of Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice on media reports carrying the details of the incident in which 20 people were killed in different areas of Balochistan.

These people hailed from different districts of Punjab and were brought to Balochistan by human traffickers for their further journey to Iran by crossing the border illegally.

Taking notice of the matter, the CJP has ordered to call detailed report from Inspector General of Police, Balochsitan and Director General, FIA within three days, especially with regard to the steps being taken to curb such incidents in future.

A large number of people from Punjab and other parts of Pakistan attempt to sneak into Iran illegally on their way to Greece and other European countries in search of greener pastures.

Kech district is considered to be one of the sensitive districts in the province. Militants in the area have repeatedly attacked labourers, security forces and pro-government politicians in the area.

Earlier, three bullet-ridden bodies were found in the area in September, while another two were found in October.
