ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has sent a reminder to the bureau’s chairman, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, to initiate the process of placing the names of all accused in the Avenfield corruption reference on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The accused include former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, both sons Hassan and Hussain, and son-in-law Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar.

In its written reminder sent to the chairman, the NAB Lahore said that two of the accused – Hassan and Hussain – had already absconded, and there was a likelihood for the rest of the accused to abscond as well.

An initial request for placing the names of the accused on ECL had been made in September when the NAB Lahore had finalised the Avenfield reference. At that time, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, who was heading the bureau, had rejected the request.
