QUETTA: In yet another grisly discovery, five bodies were found dumped in Turbat on Saturday, three days after 15 young men were shot dead execution-style in the same district of the volatile Balochistan province.

Like the victims of November 15 massacre all the people killed on Saturday belonged to Punjab and were apparently illegal immigrants, who wanted to cross into Iran en route to Europe.

The Levies Force found the five bullet-riddled bodies from Tajban area, some 70 kilometres east of Turbat city. The victims were shot from point-blank range.

“The identity cards found in their pockets revealed all of them belonged to Gujrat district of Punjab and wanted to cross the Iranian border,” Makran Division Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai said.

“It is premature to confirm who is behind these killings but they might have been kidnapped on November 15 along with the 15 people who were killed earlier.”

Security forces and rescuers evacuated the bodies to the nearby hospital for autopsy.

The victims were later identified as Usman Qadir, Danish Ali, Badar Munir, Saqib and Qasim. Authorities have shifted the bodies to Karachi and also made arrangement to transport the coffins to Gujrat for their burial.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the massacre, though the banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) of Dr Allah Nazar had claimed credit for the November 15 killings.

A day earlier security forces claimed that they had killed the BLF commander who was behind the November 15 killing.

After the first incident, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) had carried out a search operation across Punjab and arrested six human traffickers, who lure young men with promise of taking them to Europe. Human traffickers often use Balochistan to illegally cross into Iran en route to European countries.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident and expressed grief and sorrow over the killing of innocent young men. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

“This is heartrending incident and we equally share grief of the bereaved families,” he said in a statement released by his office.
