In the recent terror incidents, bullet-riddled bodies of 15 Punjabi men were found by the Levies from Buleda area of Kech district. In another such incident, Superintendent of Police Muhommad Ilyas, his wife, son and grandson were martyred in an attack which took place in the Nawa Kali area of Quetta. DIG Hamid Shakeel Sabir was also martyred in a suicide blast targeting his convoy on Airport Road in Quetta.

The meeting was attended by senators Col (retd) Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Saleh Shah, Fateh Muhammad Hassani, State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry, federal secretary interior, and senior police officials of Islamabad and others.

The chairman directed the secretary interior to submit a detailed report on the martyrdom of 15 people, the SP and his family, and the DIG in the next meeting.

The resolution also paid rich tributes to the martyrs of police and expressed pride over their bravery and sacrifice for the wellbeing and protection of the country.

The Indian government has allocated an amount of half a billion dollars to destabilise Balochistan and sabotage China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the resolution stated.

In the resolution, the Senate panel strongly recommended the government to take up the issue with the United Nations so that the real face of India could be exposed before the world.

Applauding the chairman for moving such an important resolution, Senator Mashahadi said they salute the sacrifices of policemen and officials of law enforcement agencies.

Senator Hassani said that those who were working as agents of RAW should be exposed before the nation and punished for their anti-Pakistan moves.

The Senate committee also passed 'The Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2017’, which was moved by Senator Sirajul Haq.

Taking notice of the dacoity at the residence of Senator Rubina Irfan in Balochistan, Senator Rehman Malik said, “The mover should ensure her presence in the meeting but it is for the third time that the mover is not present.”

However, he directed the DIG Balochistan to look into the FIR and solve the issue with the help of all concerned agencies and submit a report to the committee.

Commissioner Islamabad Zulfiqar Haider briefed the committee about the siege of Islamabad by protesters.

Senator Malik asked the minister of state, secretary interior and Islamabad administration that despite receiving intelligence information beforehand why preliminary measures were not taken by the government to stop the protesters before reaching Islamabad.

He said, “It is not necessary that protestors be stopped by use of force instead the government could have defused the impasse peacefully through negotiations.”

“We all are proud Muslims, Khatm-e-Nabuwwat is part of our faith and we can sacrifice our lives in the name of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) but putting innocent people, patients and students’ lives at risk is lawlessness,” he said.

He said, “In a democratic society protest is the right of every citizen, but besieging the capital is not only causing great trouble to the people of the twin cities but is also bringing a bad name to the country internationally.”

Senator Malik said that Islamabad High Court has ordered to end the protest, adding that the administration should implement the court’s orders.
