A man was shot dead in the precincts of Shahpur Saddar police station on Monday.

The police said that 42-year-old Muhammad, a resident of Vegowal Village, was going to Shahpur City when unidentified armed outlaws shot him dead. Later, they threw his body into bushes near the village.

The body was handed over to the family after legal formalities. The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained. However, a case had been registered and investigation was underway.

In another incident, robbers killed a man for putting up resistance in the jurisdiction of Bhagtanwala police station.

The police said that Muhammad Sarfraz, a resident of Dera Vainsewala, Kotmomin Tehsil and his brother Omer Daraz, were riding a motorcycle when armed robbers intercepted them near Chak No 75/SB and snatched Rs1,500 and cell phones from them.

When Sarfaraz and Omer put up resistance, the outlaws opened fire on them and fled. As a result, Sarfaraz was killed on the spot.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested 26 drug pushers.

Teams of different police stations conducted raids within their precincts and arrested 26 drug pushers. The police also seized 3.98 kilogrammes of hashish, 255 bottles of liquor and three pistols from their possession.

The accused were identified as Muhammad Rizwan, Allah Ditta, Imran, Ghulam Abbas, Nisar Ahmad, Mazhar Hussain, Ahmad Ali, Saifullah, Gehna Khan, Shafaqat Khan, Sajid Abbas, Javed Maseeh, Ramzan and others.
