LAHORE: The Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Welfare Association (PCDWA) has called a shutter-down strike for the next three days in memory of the association’s senior vice president Haji Mian Ikhlaq, who was recently shot and killed by armed motorcyclists.

PCDWA official Mahzar Shafi said that the city’s pharmacies would close to protest the police’s alleged negligence in apprehending the men involved in the murder. He said that only one of the four suspects had been arrested and the other three were still at large.

He said that Ikhlaq was an important personality in the institution and he had strong and broad ties within the pharmacists’ community.
