Education for women

Islam places great emphasis on the rights of women

KARACHI: Islam places great emphasis on the rights of women. The Holy Quran declares that the best act is giving good treatment to women. According to the Holy Quran and the sayings of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), “Allah has commanded good treatment towards women, for they are your mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts.” Allah says in the Holy Quran, “This is the duty of every Muslim man and woman to acquire knowledge.” Islam has enjoined the notion of women’s honour and their right to secure strong economic position upon its followers. Islam has given all the social rights to women, including those of freedom, good education and inheritance.

Education is a fundamental right of every human being and is equally important for both the genders. If the women are educated they can educate the young generation and can have great positive influence on their upbringing. They can teach them respect for the elderly, the teachers and the practice of doing good towards humanity. Our women have demanded equal rights with men in every sphere of life. At present, women have more career options and avenues to explore. To make women more aware of their rights, it is important that the government takes necessary steps to educate them in both the rural and urban areas of the country.
