Muslim clerics in the Indian state of Jharkhand allegedly slapped a 'fatwa' against a woman from the community for teaching yoga, Mirror Now reported.

Rafia Naaz, who earns a living by teaching yoga in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, said despite threats she would continue teaching yoga.

"I will continue to do yoga and teach yoga until the end of my life," she stressed.

"My problem is with members of both communities. On the one hand, I am asked not to teach yoga and on the other, I am asked to change my name so that people do not hesitate to learn yoga from me", said Naaz.

Naaz is currently doing her MCom from a local college and is the eldest among her siblings. Naaz entered the limelight after she was seen sharing a stage with yoga guru Ramdev Baba in the city recently.

Meanwhile, the entire matter was brought to the notice of the state’s government following which Naaz and her family have now been provided police security on the instruction of the state’s chief minister.

A police team was later sent to her home and two security guards have been deployed at her residence.
