Last year, Netflix added Pakistani dramas to the list of shows they broadcast. These included dramas like Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Sadqay Tumharay. Many Pakistani films were also added to the collection namely Waar, Moor, Janaan, Ho Mann Jahaan, Dukhtar and Wrong No.

Talking previously to The Express Tribune, TV producer Badar Ikram said that it's a great opportunity for Pakistani talent to reach worldwide audiences. He said, "As it is, our television serials are appreciated by Indian audiences. Now this would help further our viewership as we can broadcast our content in multiple regions."

Netflix launches Pakistani dramas

The launch of Netflix in Pakistan over the past few years has been beneficial to both, the country's film and TV industry as well as film producers. Fizza Ali Meerza, the producer of Na Maloom Afraad quoted, "Previously we had only two options. Either sell broadcast rights or upload the film on YouTube for free. But now we have another alternative."

Zahid, who is currently starring in Daldal, one of the most appreciated dramas tackling social issues, also discussed the importance of addressing community concerns through dramas. He said, "As artists, we can put our foot down and say, 'This story - it's been done and dusted so we are not going to sign on it,' What is the channel going to do if artists are saying no to stories like that? So I'm really happy that we're at that point."

Saif Ali Khan to star in Netflix series 'Sacred Games'

Coming from theatre to TV and soon to be seen in films, and of course this Netflix-original, we are eagerly waiting to see what Zahid has in store for us. We wouldn't be surprised if he lands a role in Bollywood or Hollywood after his Netflix debut.
