Petrol concerns

A complaint lodged by Honda can help relieve the obfuscation many motorists have been facing

KARACHI: The complaint filed by the Honda Atlas Pakistan to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority relating to the levels of manganese additive in petrol, has shed light on the ordeal that motorists face in the country. It is a common agreed perspective held by many citizens that the petrol being served to them consists of additives that are destroying the engines of their cars, often termed as milawat. However, never, or perhaps, rarely a formal complaint has ever been made in this regard. Talks and the frustrations have always been limited to groups of individuals or between mechanics and customers.

But finally a complaint lodged by Honda can help relieve the obfuscation many motorists have been facing. Thus, it is important for the authorities concerned to look into the matter thoroughly than showing disagreement on the complaint. A thorough investigation should not be held only because of concerns for engines but also for human health, as a higher-than-recommended level of manganese is harmful to human life.
