HARIPUR: Two more witnesses record their statements in the Mashal Khan murder case taking the number to 47. ATC Judge Fazal Subhan Khan resumed the hearing with Fazal Noorani leading the prosecution and Masood Azhar the defence team. The case was said to be in final stages, and according to sources, a verdict was expected next month. Mashal, a student of Mardan University, was killed by a violent mob on blasphemy charges. So far, 54 out of 60 nominated suspects have been arrested. Following threats to the family of the victim, the under-trial suspects were confined to their barracks in the jail and the public-call-office of the prison was closed temporarily. Due to sensitivity of the case, trial is being held in the Haripur Central Jail under high security.
