Nawaz is appearing in courts for constitution’s supremacy, says Marriyum Aurangzeb

Says it was ousted prime minister who made Pakistan a nuclear power

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was appearing in courts for the supremacy of the constitution, according to Radio Pakistan. 

An accountability court in Islamabad this morning (Wednesday) formally indicted former premier Nawaz Sharif in all the three National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references case.



Earlier today, the ousted prime minister along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar appeared before the court to hear the judgement against the clubbing of references filed against the Sharif family.

The court dismissed the application stating that “for each reference, there will be a trial”. It said that the four references shall be investigated and tried in the next six months.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Marriyum Aurangzeb, Talal Chaudhry and Tariq Fatemi were also present in the court.

Talking to media outside the accountability court, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that people elected Nawaz Sharif as their premier for three times and it was he who made the country a nuclear power.

The accountability court on Tuesday (November 7) had reserved its verdict on pleas filed by Nawaz Sharif. Judge Muhammad Bashir reserved the verdict after defence counsels Khawaja Haris and Amjad Pervez and NAB prosecutors concluded their arguments.



The accountability court heard the applications in line with an order of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which had set aside its decision of October 19 “to the extent of deciding the applications filed by the petitioners regarding the joinder of charges”.
