PESHAWAR: With the scourge of militancy and terrorism plaguing the country, education was the only way to defeat it.
This was stated by Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmed Butt during the annual prize distribution ceremony organised by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) at the Iqra Auditorium of the Army Public School and College (APSC) on Warsak Road on Tuesday.

While addressing the ceremony, Lt Gen Butt said that students should set their goals for the future, and they should be aware of the fact that their hard work and devotion would determine the development of the country.
He appreciated the role of APSC and highlighted that such events do not merely celebrate achievements, rather they are meant for students to take credit for their success.
The corps commander further asserted that the role of parents and teachers in inculcating values were essential for personality development and character building of the students.
While distributing certificates and prizes among the outstanding boys and girls of the army public schools, Lt Gen Butt asked students to work hard for the bright future of the country.
Students from across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata) were awarded prizes for their academic excellence in Secondary school Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary school Certificate (HSSC) examinations.
Irum Nousheen and Aiza Asif of APSC Peshawar stood first and second, having secured 1,028 and 1,024 marks respectively. Maham Ali of APS&C Dera Ismail Khan secured the third position with 1,019 marks in SSC.
Other prize winners included Shaheera Bano from APS&C DI Khan who secured 1,019 marks, Wajeeha Aamir of APS&C Peshawar with 1,015 marks, Aamina Badar APS&C Kohat with 998 marks.
In the O’ Level examinations, students of APS&C Peshawar secured the top three positions including Maryam Shahid with eight A’s, Waheed Ahmed with five A’s and Abdullah Khattak with four A’s.

In SSC –Part I exams, Mariam Afsar Khan secured 512 marks while Afsana and Shahyan Khan secured 511 and 509 marks respectively.
In SSC Part-I exams Saira Anwar, Sana Abid, Minahil Aftab and Hafsa Rehman obtained 476,466,466 and 456 marks respectively.
