Kumail Nanjiani, a Pakistani-American actor recently debuted in his first Hollywood movie The Big Sick. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the movie’s cast went on to receive the Hollywood Comedy Emsemble Award at the Hollywood Film Awards (HFA) last night.
Nanjiani, Ray Romano, Holly Hunters and Zoe Kazan accepted the award, followed by a speech from Nanjiani.
“I want to thank Carlos at HFA, thank you so much for having us here. We have a lot of people to thank but I truly truly want to thank our cast. It’s a very intimate and personal story and I was nervous about the people joining but I would never go on this journey with anyone but you,” expressed Nanjiani.
He continued, “You all poured yourselves into this and gave a piece of yourself to this movie. It is a gift that my wife and I will cherish forever. I owe you so if you ever need a ride from the airport or help moving, I’m your guy. Also, most of all I want to thank the love of my life Emily Gordon. Thank you for waking up and writing this with me.”
Nanjiani’s movie The Big Sick is based on the real love story of him and Gordon, and the challenges he faced when he moved to United States.
