Couple gunned down in Dir
Locals suspect that it is a case of honour killing
DIR:
Unidentified gunmen have shot and killed a couple in the Achar Bala area of Upper Dir late on Sunday night, police officials told The Express Tribune by telephone. Locals suspect that it was a case of honour killing. According to the police report, Daud Khan, a former police official, was with his wife in their Achar Bala home when unidentified gunmen barged into their home and sprayed them with bullets. According to locals, Daud had married his wife against the wishes of their respective families. The two had eloped around two years ago. Police officials believe that the family of Daud’s wife was not happy with their marriage and consider that it had brought a bad name to the family. Locals added that the deceased woman had been married once before and had divorced her first husband before marrying Daud, something which had further troubled her family.
