Teacher in India makes teenage girls 'take off clothes' over Rs70 'theft'
One of the girls says the teacher also threatened to bring a Tantrik to find the money
Two girls were allegedly forced by their female teacher to take off their clothes at a school in Damoh district of India's Madhya Pradesh after a classmate lost Rs70.
The girl said that she and her friend were forced to strip when she refused to admit that she had committed the “theft”, Times of India reported.
“My classmate lost her money. [The] teacher checked my bag and threatened me to confess. When I refused, she forced me and my friend to undress,” the girl said.
In fact, the teacher also threatened them that she would bring a tantrik (mystic) to find the money, Hindustan Times reported.
After the teenage girls were stripped, the money was not found on them.
After school, the girls told their parents, who took up the matter with the school’s higher authorities.
District education officer PP Singh said after the incident came to his knowledge, he had issued a show cause notice to the teacher.
“Appropriate action would be taken if the charges are found to be true. No one has the right to force anyone to strip,” he added.
The teacher maintained that the incident took place when the rest of the class was out on the school ground for karate practice.
“The girl whose money had been stolen came to me and told me about the theft and I asked her to search the bags of the two girls, but she went to the class and told them to strip, which I had never authorised," she added.
I have been working for 17 years. Why will I do such a thing?”
