LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Capital City Police Officer to recover a man allegedly illegally detained by police and produce him before the court on April 25.

The court instructed the CCPO to appear on next hearing with an explanation if he failed to recover the man by then.

The court had summoned CCPO Aslam Tareen after SP Umar Virk expressed ignorance about the whereabouts of Hafiz Ahsanullah, husband of the petitioner, Shumaila.

The petitioner alleged that police had arrested her husband some days ago and moved him to an undisclosed place. She said she feared the police might kill his husband.
