Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that the project regarding the establishment of model police stations in Islamabad should be completed on fast track basis, Radio Pakistan reported.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said these model police stations should serve an example for the provinces to follow. He said the community policing will be given practical shape.

Ahsan Iqbal said thana culture also needs to be changed and an online system should be introduced for registration of FIRs. He directed the police officials to adopt people friendly posture.

He said that special training programmes should be started for the police officials in order to equip them with the latest trends and techniques.

Ahsan Iqbal said a framework also needs to be worked out to gauge the performance of the police of the capital territory.

He said that on outstanding performance policemen will also be given cash prizes.
