Family planning: Demographic cells established in Punjab districts
Aim to reduce the risk of maternal mortality during pregnancy, provide protection from unnecessary abortion

Deputy District Population Welfare Officer Muhammad Ramzan Awan has said that the Family Planning 2020 is a global agreement under which Pakistan especially Punjab has to achieve the required targets. He added in this regard, family planning department established demographic cells in every district of the province.
‘Clerics should be included in family planning efforts’
The main goals of the programme included the increased use of birth-control medicines from 35% to 50%, to reduce the risk of maternal mortality during pregnancy, protection from unnecessary abortion and to increase the facilities of family planning at community level.
“This demographic cell will do the research work. A new form has also been introduced in which the suitable age for the married couples will be between 15 to 49 years for registration,” he said.
