Undertaker, Shawn Michaels set to return to WWE Raw’s 25th anniversary

Wait! Has the Undertaker not retired yet?

Starting January 11, 1993, WWE’s flagship show Monday Night Raw has gone to become the longest running episodic television show in history. In January 2018, Raw will complete its 25 years and like every milestone, WWE is set to celebrate it and make it the biggest night possible on January 22.

So far, WWE has announced that Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, and The Undertaker will be making special appearances on the show. While the Heartbreak Kid and Nash sporadically appear on the big shows, The Undertaker was believed to have retired earlier this year after his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, as he left his coat and hat in the ring.

While all the signs so far pointed to the fact that the Deadman is retired, his emergence could mean two things: either, it’s a one-off appearance to promote live attendance, or it could lead to the Deadman coming back for his annual WrestleMania match once again.

Since SummerSlam in August, speculations have been running wild that The Phenom is set to return and avenge his WrestleMania loss to Reigns. When that didn’t come to fruition, the voices dumbed down. With this announcement, one can also explain Taker’s on-screen half-brother Kane’s recent resurgence. Kane returned a few weeks ago to help Braun Strowman defeat Reigns in a Steel Cage match on Raw.

Since then, except one loss at WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs, Kane has defeated top superstars such as Finn Balor and Seth Rollins in consecutive weeks. His reign of domination continues as he is expected to battle another behemoth in Strowman soon. If not, Taker’s return could reunite the Brothers of Destruction once again as they exact revenge from Reigns. It could also set up a rematch for WrestleMania in April, or even a dream retirement match between the two brothers.

While what will happen remains to be seen, there should be more reports hinting at whether we will see the Deadman rise again for one last hurrah at WrestleMania.
