Army to sponsor cyclist Samar Khan set to participate in Tanzania event

Youth is country's future and needs to be encouraged and facilitated in all fields, ISPR quotes COAS as saying

Pakistan Army has decided to sponsor cyclist Samar Khan for her participation in the upcoming mountain cycling event in Tanzania.

"On [the] special instructions of army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan Army is financially sponsoring talented young cyclist Samar Khan, [who hails] from Dir, Malakand division in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) P, for her participation in mountain cycling event in Tanzania this November," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.

Khan, who has cycled on glaciers in Karakoram range, would now be scaling highest peak Kilimanjaro in Africa.

She is the first woman in the world to have cycled on the 4,500-metre-high Biafo glacier in Gilgit-Baltistan. Khan, a Master's degree holder in physics, enjoys paragliding, trekking, and mountain climbing in addition to cycling, which she has a penchant for.

cyclist | 6 years ago | Reply in the cycling circle in Pakistan there is a strong premises that this lady is a fake, poses with photos at spots, without any documentary proof. wonder if anyone ever asked her for proofs of her achievement?
