DSP Aijaz Tareen told the local media that the assailants separately broke into the houses of both the victims and shot them dead. Five persons, Qurban Khoso, Ali Sher Khoso, Haji Khoso, Sajjan Khoso and Mansoor Khoso, have been nominated in an FIR at the Dars police station.

Abdul Hakeem Khoso, Zulfiqar's father, claimed while talking to the media that his relatives, who have been booked in the case, killed his son in front of other family members. He said a dispute had emerged between his family and other relatives over a piece of land, adding that a local influential arbitrated the matter and gave a decision in his family's favour.

However, the other party did not accept the decision and took revenge by killing his son who worked in Karachi and was visiting home, Hakeem said.
