We don't believe in politics of intimidation: Farooq Sattar

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that his party did not believe in the politics of intimidation and subjugation.

Sattar was talking to reporters in Karachi about his party's reservations on admissions to educational institutions through the National Testing Service (NTS), Express News reported.

Earlier in the day, Karachi Deputy Mayor and MQM-P leader Arshad Vohra announced that he was joining the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

Vohra told reporters at the PSP headquarters Pakistan House that he had switched parties because the MQM-P lacked vision.



Responding to a question about the development, Sattar said he would speak on Vohra's decision tomorrow as he was more concerned about the issue his party was taking up now.

"We are here for the future of our children. Every student here with us is [as important as] Arshad Vohra," he added.

The MQM-P chief said the students of Hyderabad and Sukkur had been treated unfairly in the process of admissions through the NTS and his party had come to join them in their protest.

"The Sindhi-speaking residents of the province are our brothers and sisters and we will join them in their protest against injustice," he remarked.

Sattar demanded that an inquiry be ordered into the results of the latest census as Karachi's population had deliberately been shown less than what it actually was.
