MIRPUR: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan directed Wapda to initiate immediate steps to resolve the glitches aroused by the completion of the AJK-based 969-megawatt Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project (NJHP). Haider expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Wapda officials in Jammu and Kashmir House.

He asked the officials to undertake the required measures on an emergency basis. The autonomous region’s prime minister exhorted allaying of environmental concerns before work is started on the dam.

Wapda Chairman Muzammal Aslam, Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir Ejaz Munir and other officials were also present. “The people of Azad Kashmir have sacrificed a lot to curtail the energy crisis in Pakistan,” Haider said, adding that it is important for them not to feel deprived.
