Punjab CM approves cleanliness programme for villages

Shehbaz Sharif says Rural Sanitation and Development Programme will bring about a positive change in villages

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the launch of a cleanliness and development programme for villages.

An amount of Rs19 billion will be earmarked for this purpose, he said in a meeting held through video link on Saturday. Under the programme, sanitation and development projects will be launched at the union council level and representatives of local government institutions will identify schemes.

Shehbaz said the Rural Sanitation and Development Programme will bring about a positive change in villages and an effective cleanliness system will be set up at the village level under this programme.

He said it will be our combined responsibility to ensure transparent utilisation of resources under this programme which will altogether change for better the rural life like the Khadam-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme.

He said this programme is an important step towards making local government institutions more effective and this programme will also help improve cleanliness system in villages.
