Let women decide

Letter October 29, 2017
Males, often the perpetrators in harassment cases, have no right to tell women how and when they should react

KARACHI: It is up to women to decide how they should react to harassment. This is perhaps the most important lesson that one can learn from the whole affair involving the doctor who sent Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s sister an unsolicited Facebook friend request. Males, often the perpetrators in harassment cases, have no right to tell women how and when they should react.

It’s a judgment call and women alone must be allowed to make it.
