7 interesting facts about ‘Veere Di Wedding’

The movie is slated to release in May 18, 2018.

Ever since Veere Di Wedding was announced last year, the film has been making rounds for all the right reasons.

The movie marks the comeback of Kareena Kapoor Khan into Bollywood post becoming a mother and also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Sumeet Vyas and Shikha Talsania in the lead roles.



Budding director Shashanka Ghosh and Sonam’s sister Rhea will be joining hands for this much awaited chick flick, which is slated to release in May 18, 2018.

In the meantime, we’ve got some interesting facts about Veere Di Wedding to keep you entertained. As compiled from Times of India, here are seven things you probably didn’t know about the film.

1. Biggest wedding of the year

After the release of the first look poster, fans are already dying for more. All the leading ladies will be playing protagonists in Veere Di Wedding and the makers are putting in extra efforts to make it the big fat wedding of the year.

The movie is all set to be shot predominantly in Delhi and a few scenes in Bangkok.

2. The cast has wrapped up the Delhi schedule

The entire crew celebrated the wrap of the first sequence shot in Delhi with a grand bash. Swara posted monochrome pictures on her Instagram, captioned, "And it comes to an end... last day of Delhi Schedule.”

3. Captivating plot

Veere Di Wedding revolves around Kareena’s role of a to-be-bride and her girlfriends, who are attending the wedding. The film aims to portray wedding fun from a women’s perspective and so, promises to be fun and emotional – just like real weddings.

It will mark Rhea’s second attempt at the chick flick genre, after 2010’s Aisha.

4. Kareena gave up a film with SRK for Veere Di Wedding?

Rumor has it that Kareena turned down Anand L Rai’s next with Shah Rukh Khan as she had already locked the dates for Veere Di Wedding. Moreover, she wanted to lose her pregnancy weight before going ahead with the shoot.

5. She also wanted to opt out of the film in between

Previously, Bebo recommended Rhea cast someone ten years younger than her as she didn’t want her friend to lose out when she got pregnant.

However, Rhea was adamant on working with Bebo and the shoot of the film was stalled to accommodate the latter’s delivery.

6. Getting back in shape

Kareena has been on a strict gym routine to shed those extra kilos. In fact, Swara has also been on a diet to lose some weight for Veere Di Wedding.

7. Despite the hindrances

Veere Di Wedding has witnessed several obstacles through its bumpy course, be it script changes, getting a title similar to Jimmy Shergill’s Veeray ki Wedding or shoot delays.

The second issue was solved when the judge allowed both films to hold their titles.
