Syndicate replaces directors of constituent institutes

Also, approves creation of various teaching and non-teaching positions

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU) syndicate on Thursday replaced all the directors of its constituent institutes.

The move came on the recommendations of the varsity’s vice chancellor in light of Section IV of University Model Statutes 2016.

This decision was taken by the KMU Syndicate in its 26th meeting with VC Dr Arshad Javed in the chair.

According to a statement issued by the university, the syndicate unanimously approved to appoint KMU-Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Kohat Principal Dr Lal Mohammad Khattak as the new head of the Ophthalmology Department. Dr Zille Huma was appointed as the director of IBMS Peshawar, Dr Dildar Mohammad as director of the Institute of Nursing Sciences, Assistant Professor Mohammad Jaseem Khan as the director the Institute of Paramedical Sciences Doranpur, Dr Ziaul Haq as director of the Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences and Dr Usman Mehboob as director Institute of Health Profession Education.

The syndicate also approved the creation of various teaching and non-teaching positions on the recommendation of Finance and Planning Committee.

They also approved the appointment of assistant professors, lecturers and demonstrators on the recommendation of the University Selection Board to various vacant posts at KIMS and KIDS Kohat.

On the recommendation of the affiliation committee, the syndicate approved an affiliation for the Swat Medical College for 100 seats, Rehman College of Nursing for 50 slots, Swat Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences for 25 seats and Pakistan Institute of Ophthalmology for Doctor of Optometry against 30 seats with KMU.
