Six students, three BZU employees booked for drug dealing
Suspects were involved in sale and supply of drugs, liquor and other narcotics
MULTAN:
At least six students and three university employees have been booked for their alleged involvement in drug dealing at Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. A case has been registered at Alappa police station.
A police official told The Express Tribune that Multan CPO Chauhdry Muhammad Saleem issued orders to arrest the suspects. He was informed that the suspects were involved in sale and supply of drugs, liquor and other narcotics to the students. However, the police were conducting raids to arrest the culprits.

Meanwhile, university management constituted an inquiry committee after the report of Punjab police which stated that drug sale and its use was on the rise in Bahauddin Zakariya University campus.
The report alleged that students, security officials, officers and university employees were involved in drug dealing. It revealed substances like hashish, liquor and sheesha were easily available in the canteens and hostels of the university.
A university official Dr Akbar told The Express Tribune that strict action would be taken against all those who were involved in the illegal business. However, he pointed out that the names mentioned in the report were not the students of Bahauddin Zakariya University.

He said, “The university has contacted special branch for the investigation of security guards but did not get any response yet.”
Earlier, a similar revelation was also made about six months ago. The university students protested against the administration and students who were involved in drug dealing and the parents of those students were called upon to discuss the suspicious activities of their children.
