5 Pakistani stars who tore barriers and found love across the border

Amid the frigid relationship between Pakistan and India that has been prevailing since time immemorial, many noteworthy names have torn through the barriers and walked the path of love.

Here are five Pakistani celebrities who found love across the border, in India.

1) Imran Khan and Zeenat Aman



A few decades ago, ex-cricketer Imran Khan possessed all the charm he needed to impress any and every woman. One of those women was Bollywood legend Zeenat Aman, who met him in the 1980s during Pakistan’s tour to India. They dated for quite a while, however, the relationship did not culminate into marriage.

2) Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza



Often known as ‘Shoania,’ both athletes make one of the most popular celebrity couples in India and Pakistan. Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza tied the knot back in 2010.

Talking about her marriage on Koffee With Karan, Sania professed she is happily married, “I am! And we stay quite far from each other and that’s the secret of our marriage.”

3) Salman Khan and Somy Ali




Salman Khan dated Pakistani actress Somy Ali for eight whole years! Somy previously spilled the beans on her break-up with Salman Khan.

She admitted that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan caused them to drift apart and was indeed responsible for her split with the Dabbang star. Somy starred in a bunch of Bollywood films but they failed to make an impact.

4) Iman Ali and Imtiaz Ali



Pakistani model and actress Iman Ali and Indian director Imtiaz Ali dated for quite a while. The Khuda Kay Liye star was known to have stayed in Mumbai whilst the two were together.

A source close to the model-cum-actor told the Mirror that, “She is going to spend more time in Pakistan now. She came down to Mumbai to make a career in Bollywood but couldn’t make much headway. Also, her relationship with Imtiaz is not all rosy now.”

Iman and the Jab We Met director, however, weren't not able to keep things going and had to eventually separate, with her moving back to Pakistan.

5) Shoaib Akhtar and Sonali Bendre



Rumours have previously been rife regarding Shoaib Akhtar and Sonali Bendre's relationship.

Neither of the two ever publicly confirmed these rumours, however, Shoaib has gone on record in the past to voice his love for Sonali.
