Standoff at QAU

The spat between the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad’s administration and students has taken another ugly turn

ISLAMABAD: The spat between the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad’s administration and students has taken another ugly turn. Though classes have been resumed, the Baloch student organisation and other students have chosen not to attend classes. Protests which started against a 10% fee hike now seem to have taken a racial turn. Earlier the syndicate refused to allow Baloch students to attend classes as they had been allegedly accused of leading the protests and causing unrest at the university. What remains confusing is whether the protest is the reason for suspensions of Baloch students, or is it their expulsion that has led them to continue with the protests when other student organisations representing other provinces have called off the protests. The administration must deal with the matter in unbiased manner and ensure fair treatment of the students.
